Your $11 sponsors a class today.

Today, a member with aphasia is in a room with a Speech-Language Pathologist and a community that understands and supports them, and your gift is the reason that room is open.

When the words leave.

In the U.S., aphasia happens to someone roughly every six minutes. Usually it’s a stroke. Sometimes a brain injury. Almost always, it happens in an instant, and the person it happens to is still all the way themselves on the inside. They just can’t find the words to express it.

Insurance covers the acute part. The hospital, the rehab, the first weeks. Then, somewhere around the time a person is starting to understand how much has actually changed, the coverage stops. The clinical word is “plateaued.”

That's where Adler Aphasia Center steps in.

We’re the only place of its kind in New Jersey: a community center, run by licensed Speech-Language Pathologists, where people with aphasia and the families who love them can keep rebuilding their lives for as long as they need to.

Unfortunately, insurance does not cover what we offer. We run on people like you.

The quiet way to make the biggest difference.

Most of our doors stay open because of monthly sponsors. People who decided, once, to back a member's seat for as long as they're able. You can cancel any time, change the amount any time, and the form takes about thirty seconds.

$5/month — keep someone in our community.

$11/month — sponsor a class, every month.

$25/month — sponsor a class twice a month, for a member on scholarship.

$100/month — cover an entire ACG semester scholarship every season.

Pick the gift that fits.

Every amount below maps to a real piece of someone's day. This is the actual cost of running a class, a day, a semester.

~89¢ of every dollar funds programs.

We publish a full annual report every year and we'd rather be transparent than impressive.
Here's the short version:

Roughly 89% of every dollar we raise funds programs. Our SLPs, the classes, the supplies, the scholarships.

The rest covers operations: the website you're on, the financial audits we're required to publish, the team that keeps the lights on at four campuses.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Your gift is fully tax-deductible. EIN 02-0687863.

You can read our most recent annual report and audited financials

Not the right moment?

Here are five other ways to help.

Give a one-time gift in honor or memory of someone.

Set up a recurring monthly gift.

Make a Qualified Charitable Distribution from your IRA.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes. Adler Aphasia Center is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. EIN 02-0687863. You'll receive a receipt by email the moment the gift goes through.

How much of my donation actually reaches the programs?

Roughly 89 cents of every dollar funds programs: SLP salaries, classes, materials, scholarships. The rest covers the operations required to run a multi-campus nonprofit responsibly. We publish our full audited financials every year.

What does "sponsoring a class" actually mean?

Our programs are taught by licensed Speech-Language Pathologists in small groups. Each class – art, tech, cooking, conversation, has real costs. When you sponsor a class at $11, you're paying that cost for one member, one session.

Can I designate where my gift goes?

Yes. On the donation form you can direct your gift toward general programs, Full-Service scholarships, ACG scholarships, or caregiver programs.

Can I cancel a recurring gift?

Yes, any time. One click in the email receipt, or one email to us. We'd rather have a happy donor for a year than a frustrated one indefinitely.

How do scholarships actually work?

Members who apply for scholarships submit financial documentation. We use a consistent eligibility process across the board so the donors who fund scholarships know they're going to people who genuinely need them. No one is turned away for an inability to pay; we cover the difference.

Can I visit?

Please! Tours are free, available at all three campuses (Maywood, Toms River, West Orange), and the easiest way to see what your gift actually does. Schedule a visit today!

The door's open. Every gift keeps it that way.

Whether it's $11 or $1,100, recurring or one-time, you become part of how Adler stays here for the family that walks in next week, and the one after that.
