EDUCATION & TRAINING AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH
The Adler Aphasia Center recognizes that there is limited awareness about aphasia. We see that people with aphasia, family members/caregivers, healthcare professionals and the broader community benefit from our outreach efforts and aphasia education.
The Center runs educational programs both at the Maywood and West Orange facilities and throughout the greater NY/NJ region. An important aspect of this program is that our members share their experiences and expertise in many of these education and outreach sessions with area healthcare professionals and medical and nursing students. The first-person perspective offers a unique perspective into living with a communication disorder.

Topics include:
• Aphasia awareness and sensitivity
• “Aphasia 101” – basic information about aphasia
• Communication tips and strategies
• Supported communication skills practice
• Information about the Center
• And more…
We offer a variety of presentation formats and on-and off-site program options:
• Lunch-and-Learn style talks
• Panel presentations
• Guest lectures
• On-site training, conducted at the Adler Aphasia Center
• Off-site training, conducted at various community locations
