f Adler Aphasia Center - Community Training

The Adler Aphasia Center runs educational programs for people with aphasia, caregivers/family members, healthcare professionals, students, community organizations, and businesses.

An important aspect of our programs is that our members, people with aphasia, share their experiences and expertise in these education and outreach sessions. The first-person perspective offers a unique insight into living with a communication disorder. Topics include:
  • Aphasia awareness and sensitivity
  • "Aphasia 101" - basic information about aphasia
  • Communication tips and strategies
  • Supported communication skills practice
  • Information about the Center
  • And more...
We offer a variety of presentation formats and on-and off-site program options.
  • Lunch-and-Learn style talks
  • Panel presentations
  • Guest lectures
  • On-site training, conducted at the Adler Aphasia Center
  • Off-site training, conducted at various community locations
It takes something mysterious and straightens it out for you.
- Spouse of a person with aphasia after participating in our week-long Aphasia Education Program

I think we doctors considered stroke as an irreversible condition and didn't pay much attention to patients with aphasia. I learned today how important it is to take care of these patients.
- Medical resident who participated in an on-site training for healthcare professionals

This was a great program as I was able to see firsthand the impact of aphasia on great people who are the same as all of us.
